Why Jan Bredack Opens Veganz Supermarket?

In 2008 was the year he felt the peak of stress and he realized that he had to make some radical changes in his life. He becomes vegan after falling in love with vegatarian woman. He tried to follow her lifestyle as a vegetarian and soon after became a vegan. At that time he found it difficult to find vegan food when he had to go to the supermarket.

In the midst of his confusion, he come up with the idea of opening specialty vegan supermarket. He finally found a suitable location in Berlin, investors, and employees whose were ready to work, and products ready to sell and in the early spring of 2011 the first Veganz shop was opened at Prenzlauer Berg in Berlin. This is the first supermarket in the world that sells 100 percent vegetarian ingredients.

At first they managed to open stores in six cities in Germany, besides Prague and Vienna. In addition to selling food to the public directly, Veganz is the largest distributor of vegan products in the entire German market. In 2014, the company was named a finalist for the German Entrepreneur Award and at the end of 2014, Bredack was chosen as Person of the Year by PETA Germany.

Why is Veganz Supermarket owned by Jan Bredack Closed down?

Bad news befell the Veganz supermarket because they closed at least four of its nine branches after announcing the filing of bankruptcy procedures in December 2016. This is due to a lack of interest from buyers. Jan, a former meat eater, explained that Veganz does not aim to turn the world into a vegan, but only to make the vegan lifestyle possible for everyone without trying hard. In fact, 80 percent of customers are not vegan or vegetarian. He said that he did it because it comes from the heart and money is not a motivation. He wants to do something good in this life.

Even though veganz supermarkets submit bankruptcy procedures, the Veganz GmbH holding company will not be affected and not go bankrupt. Instead, Jan Bredack plans to focus on wholesale and catering and works as a major chain supplier for Metro and Famila Companies.
