The reuseable water bottle is getting more follower because it aims to increase public awareness of plastic waste if using single-use bottles. It is conceivable that everyday trucks loaded with indestructible items and dumped into our oceans every minute. Although there is more movement about the environment actions from industrial makers are also needed.
Big brands began to follow in the footsteps of the pioneers of the plastic diet movement, but our oceans are still stagnating with around six billion tons of toxic packaging and waste.
Artists, designers, and makers have the responsibility and opportunity to set an agenda for a sustainable future, the same as politicians and scientists can have a positive impact on the environment with the policies and inventions they work on.
Two Creative Company That Create Reuseable Water Bottle
Although it usually focuses on raising funds for water that aims to provide clean drinking water in developing countries, Soma recently jumped for the first time to preserve the sea. The Soma glass water bottle was launched in April 2018 and was made in collaboration with Parley for the Oceans and is available exclusively at Starbucks. The bottle is made of materials equivalent to two plastic bottles, taken from remote islands and coastal communities. The glass bottles are lightweight and durable and made of 100% BPA free, broken glass, leak-proof bamboo lid and made from the same renewable resources.
Soma aims to make the industry more careful and aware of the environment. This is done to offset its emissions with conservation-based forestry, and its code of ethics sets standards for labor practices, transparency, animal welfare, and anti-discrimination policies.
“The shift in mindset and behavior is as important as creating new systems and materials,” explained Cyrill Gutsch of the sustainability project. “We all have the same role to do something. This bottle is another reminder of that fact and the beginning of new collaboration to reach a solution.”
Reuseable Water Bottle from CanO

UK-based CanO Water was founded in 2015 with the aim of creating a ‘sustainable alternative to disposable plastic bottles’ so they package the drinking water in aluminum cans.
Earlier this year, fashion studio Christopher Raeburn partnered with CanO, along with the London Zoo. Each of these different companies is united by one common goal: reduce the tide of plastic pollution. Cans are now taking up space once filled with water bottles in London and Whipsnade Zoo.
“Our latest A / W 2018 Immerse collection is a real creative call as a weapon and inspired by our fragile sea,” Raeburn explained. “At a personal level I also found the BBC Blue Planet 2 series to be very impactful and along with so many other people who saw this series, I want to help make a difference.”
Raeburn’s role in the CanO initiative is to create designs that are attractive while making the London Zoo more specific. Of course, if you look at the design of sharks swimming around a canned circle, it will strengthen a wider message around marine pollution and what affects all the ocean species.
Raeburn continued, ‘I think as a designer you have an obligation to consider what you do and why you do it. Finally, we want to make sustainable choices so that we can provide truly unique and desirable products to our customers. ”
