Petra Nemcova was born in Karviná, Czechoslovakia ( now the Czech Republic) on June 24, 1979. She is a well-known supermodel from Czech, a television host, and philanthropist who founded the Happy Hearts Fund. In 2017, the Happy Hearts Fund joined All Hands Volunteers to create All Hands and Hearts – Smart Response, with Namcová as co-founder and vice chairman.
She was first discovered in Prague by NEXT Model Management, then she signed a contract and moved to Milan, Italy. After winning the Model Elite 1995 contest, she returned to Milan where her career taking off.
She has a myriad of achievements, including in the campaigns for Benetton, Bulgari, Cartier, Clarins, Cortefiel, Dirk Bikkembergs, Fortunoff, Intimissimi, John Lewis, Lancaster, La Perla, La Senza, Maidenform, Max Factor, Pantene Pro – V, Rampage, Schwarzkopf and Victoria’s Secret.
Nemcova has appeared on the cover of many international magazines including Harper’s Bazaar, Madame Figaro, Elle, Shape, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Flare, Glamor and Sports Illustrated.
Nemcova has also tried catwalks for leading designers including Lolita Lempicka, Gai Mattiolo, Matthew Williamson, Gugliemo Cappone, Marina Babini, Yumi Katsura, and Michiko Koshino. In January 2015, Nemcova replaced Abbey Clancy as the brand ambassador of Ultimo underwear. She is also the brand ambassador of Chopard.
On December 26, 2004, she was in Khao Lak, Thailand, with her fiancee, a photographer Simon Atlee when the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami struck the place. The Atlee sank into the tsunami and she suffered a hip fracture and serious injuries but she managed to hold on to the palm tree for eight hours until she was rescued by Thai civilians and flown to the nearest local hospital to get further treatment.
She has been vegan since 2007. Her autobiography, Love always, Petra, was released in 2005 where 100% of the profit was donated to help children affected by the 2004 tsunami in Thailand and ongoing natural disasters throughout the world.

In 2005, she established the Happy Hearts Fund, which is a charitable organization and campaign formed after the tsunami that struck it. The Happy Hearts Fund’s main mission is to build and renew schools affected by natural disasters. As a result of a program run by the Happy Hearts Fund, 176 schools have been rebuilt throughout the world in 10 countries including Thailand, Indonesia, Haiti, Nepal, Peru, Mexico, and the Philippines.
All Hands And Hearts – Smart Response is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing fast and effective support to people affected by natural disasters throughout the world. This organization has helped rebuild schools and homes around the world and has a positive impact on more than 105,000 children in the affected areas.
The mission through the Happy Hearts Fund consists of dedicated volunteers, currently numbering more than 50,000 people, who work in more than 18 separate countries. She stated that we cannot control nature, but we can control actions that can be taken.
